The government, through a collaboration between the General Secretariat of the National Council for SEZ and the Ministry of Manpower (Ditjen Binalavotas), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Semarang on June 2nd to address workforce needs in the Kendal and Industropolis Batang SEZs. With the rapid growth of investment in these areas, providing a competent workforce with various skills—such as manufacturing, welding, and foreign languages—is crucial to maintaining competitiveness. As a solution, the Ministry of Manpower offers a Tailor Made Training program, a flexible training scheme specifically designed to meet the unique standards and needs of each industry. This synergy is expected to not only secure investments but also create broader employment opportunities for the local workforce.
The series of SEZ development evaluation meetings continued with a site visit to the Galang Batang SEZ and Bintan Industrial Estate on Saturday, October 7 2023. This visit is a strategic step in order to encourage economic development and investment in the Riau Islands.
In order to support the development of the Bali SEZ, President Joko Widodo has issued Presidential Decree Number 6 of 2023 concerning the Bali Province SEZ Regional Council, which appoints the Governor of Bali as Chair of the Regional Council, the Mayor of Denpasar as Deputy Chair of the Regional Council, the Regional Secretary of Bali Province as ex-officio Secretary of the Regional Council, as well as other members of the Regional Council.
