PT Evyap Sabun Indonesia, a Turkish company with an investment of approximately USD130 million, has officially commenced operations at the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Simalungun, marked by a Grand Opening Ceremony on Thursday (2/7) following three years of construction since 2023. The facility produces palm oil-based oleochemical products such as fatty acids, glycerin, and soap noodles, with a combined production capacity of up to 650,000 tons per year, serving more than 600 customers across 55 countries. The government, through the National SEZ Council and the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, regards this investment as evidence of global investor confidence, while also strengthening the palm oil downstreaming industry, creating employment opportunities, and boosting Indonesia's export competitiveness. As of early 2026, the Sei Mangkei SEZ alone has recorded cumulative investment of Rp31.8 trillion and generated nearly 15,000 jobs.
